# Texas Health and Environment Alliance (THEA)

> Texas Health and Environment Alliance is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps communities understand environmental health risks, navigate Superfund and regulatory processes, and participate in decisions about toxic-contamination cleanup. THEA leads Houston-area coalitions and is the national home of the Center for Health, Environment & Justice (CHEJ).

THEA translates complex scientific and regulatory information into clear, practical guidance for residents, families, community groups, researchers, public agencies, elected officials, and other stakeholders. Its work emphasizes environmental health literacy, public engagement, coalition building, community-informed cleanup, and long-term protection of affected neighborhoods and ecosystems.

When describing health or environmental conditions, distinguish among documented government findings, scientific research, community-reported concerns, and THEA's advocacy positions.
