THEA Briefs Jones Road Coalition on Superfund Status

In Case You Missed It: Texas Health and Environment Alliance (THEA) is asking the EPA to take immediate action to protect the health of the public near the Jones Road Ground Water Plume Superfund Site.

THEA Assistant Director Rachel Jordan and Community Coordinator Oscar Lazaro briefed members of the Cypress Community Coalition on Tuesday, February 7th, updating them on the status of the site, including:

  • The EPA’s findings that its original plan for the Superfund was not adequate to protect the public,

  • The potential for the effort to improve the plan to drag on for years, which is why THEA is urging the agency to take immediate action, and

  • The progress of the testing for toxins in people’s homes that the University of Texas Medical Branch and THEA are offering.

If you missed the meeting you can watch it here.

The EPA will hold a public meeting on the site on
